Creative people are by nature, troublemakers, change makers. They are the revolutionaries whose very existence threatens those who profit from conformity, control and oppression. And this is precisely why our world and our systems work relentlessly and systematically to nip people’s creativity at the bud, starting at schools. Because the few who rule the masses understand that creativity is an extraordinary force of transformation, and in this episode we will explore why creative people are the only ones who can change the world, why everyone is creative and lastly how to expand our creativity and unleash its transformative power in the world.
Our world is changing, and it’s changing fast. The times we are in call for new ideas, fresh perspectives and new ways of seeing and being in the world, and this is why creatives stand at the forefront of change, and always have.
Look through the pages of history, and see for yourself this undeniable truth: that the ones who truly changed and transformed anything in our world, the ones who truly altered the direction of Humanity, were the ones who dared to create. The ones who stood fully in their creative power, and actually created something, whether this was a new movement, a new philosophy, a new psychological framework through which people can understand themselves, a new scientific theory or technology or art work, whatever it is, they actually created something.
The change makers have always been the ones who brought something new into existence that didn’t previously exist here on Earth. These Souls, these visionaries who reshaped humanity's trajectory were not mere observers letting life and the world happen to them, they didn’t say “Oh this is just how things are.”
Fuck no, these Souls were creators and creatrixes who re-shaped and re-imagined our whole world into what they wanted it to be.
And these beings are reflecting back to us our own power, because make no mistake creativity is a power, it is the power to create, the power to change, and that’s why creativity is inherently disruptive, at least to the current status quo we’re in, because creativity changes things. And obviously if you’re benefitting from the status quo you don’t want things to change, you don’t want people to re-imagine possibilities.
Because the creative person is the one who gets us to ask, “Why ?” Why are things this way ? Why do we need to pay to exist on this planet ? It’s abso-fuckinglutly absurd, you know why ? I know there is a better way to live than the way we’ve been living, because this is slavery, modern day wage slavery, make no mistake about it. Even though many people can’t see these 9 to 5 jobs for what they really are, they are slavery.
I mean, in a world where you must pay to exist, where you must pay for the basic necessities to survive (food, shelter, water), and the only way to get money is through selling your time and labor, you are not truly free. You are forced to work not by choice, but by the necessity of survival. When survival itself has been monetized, and your time has been commodified, that is the essence of wage slavery - being compelled to work simply to exist, and not only that but your precious time and energy is being used to help others whole rule over you make a profit off of you, off of your time, energy and creativity.
A truly free person would have the genuine choice to participate in this kind of work, not be coerced into it by the threat of starvation or homelessness.
And by this I don’t mean that human beings don’t want to do meaningful work and contribute to the society that they live in, that’s a whole different story, of course we do — what I’m talking about is wage slavery.
But you know, as Voltaire once said:
"It is difficult to free fools from the chains they revere."
This is a whole other topic I’m passionate about, but the point is, is that the creative person is the one who dares to question the unquestionable, when everyone else is nodding their head and saying “Oh yeah that’s the way things are, this is totally normal” and taking these ways of living for granted, the creative person is the one who challenges these norms.
The one who gets you to see things differently and re-imagine a new way of living, of doing things. And with each "why?" with each "What if?", you know “What if we did things differently ? What if we didn’t have to pay to live ?” the creative person completely shakes the foundations of this world’s carefully constructed structures and illusions.
Because from birth, from day one, this world tells us listen,
“This is the way of the world, this the way of life, these are the structures and these are the rules, alright ? Now you fit into these, and you shut up, alright ? “
Creatives don’t do that, creatives says, “
First of all fuck you and your structures, second of all, imma go do my own thing. I’m not going to color within your made up lines and your bullshit made up rules of how things should be, how I should live, or how I should be. You do not have that right to tell me how to live or how to express myself. You never have and you never will.”
Before I get into why everyone is creative I want to discuss the famous axiom that goes: Form follows the function.
For those who might have never heard of this saying before, form follows the function means, that if something is designed the way that it is, then there’s a reason for this, and again we need only only at Nature to see the self-evident nature of this statement.
Let me take the example of bees again, as I so often do. Why are bees shaped the way that they are ? Is there a reason for this ? Why couldn’t they be shaped differently ? Why couldn’t they have been longer or bigger ? Does their size and shape make them better pollinators ?
Well upon further inspection, I discovered that bees' unique shape allows them to access parts of flowers that other pollinators can't reach, which helps these specific flower species survive. And what's more fascinating is that bees are naturally messy eaters — you know their bodies get completely coated in pollen when they’re eating it. And this messiness of theirs is actually perfect for pollination, as they inadvertently transfer pollen to the female parts of the next flowers they visit. And this beautiful process is how flowers reproduce and continue to thrive.
So there’s a reason that bees are shaped the way they are, an evolutionary reason, and not only that but there’s a reason that they have a desire for pollen. Again bees probably have no idea that by extracting pollen from a flower they’re helping to sustain entire ecosystems, from what we can tell, from our limited perspective, all they probably know is that they want pollen, that’s it, that’s all they know. And that inner function, that inner desire of theirs, is reflected in their form.
So now, bringing this back to human beings, the form follows the function. Why are human beings made the way they are ? And not just physically made, but internally made ? Why do we have this instinct for the transcendental, for the divine, that no logic and no rationality can ever extinguish ? Why do we search for God ? For a meaning beyond the ordinary ? Why do we tell stories, as naturally as we breathe without even thinking about ? Why do we create ? Why ? Why are we, the way the way that we are ?
There’s a reason.
And I don’t have the answer for all those questions, yet, I’m still investigating them, but what I do know is that we have our creativity for a reason, that as much is self-evident by now, and we may never fully know or understand why we are creative, but we don’t need to. All we need to know is that we have it, and that there’s a reason for it, and as such it needs to be used, consciously and wisely.
I’m going to quote a verse from the Bible, Genesis 1:27:
“So God created Man in his own image,
in the image of God he created them;
male and female he created them.”
Now, I am no longer a Christian, I used to be, but I am no longer religious, although I do still have my own personal relationship with my Creator, however, just because I’m no longer Christian that doesn’t mean that I don’t acknowledge that the Bible is filled with precious gems of wisdom that are just timeless.
So there’s a reason the Bible says that we were made in the image and likeness of God, why does it say that ? Really think about it.
It’s because we are the only creatures that we know of, that have the power to create, the power to imagine.
Look at the world around you, and tell me if any other animal, other than human beings, have this power to create things that have never existed before ? To create art, languages, clothes, or anything else we can conceive of with our limitless imagination ? This is so unique to Human beings.
We are different, we are also similar to other animals of course, in a lot of ways yes, but we are different, set apart. And it’s our creativity that makes us different.
Also let me just point, that the Bible verse I quoted says that God created man in his own image, male and female he created them. That right there shows us that the nature of the Divine, this Divine Intelligence that made us and that we call God, is both feminine and masculine, not purely masculine. But that was just a side note.
So, creativity is power, it is power to create things that have never existed before, the power to reimagine things. Now I want you to look at your life. Are you, and by definition the life you are living, not something that never existed before ? I know you did not create yourself, but look at your life. Did you not create the life you are currently living right now, through your intentions, abilities and knowledge ? Granted, it may have been unconsciously, rather than consciously, but did you not create it ? Did you not create relationships and memories with your loved ones ? If you’ve ever journaled, or written something, or drawn something, even if you thought it sucked, did not create something ?
Look at your life, really, and then tell me, that you are not a creator or creatrix.
I have an episode titled “Starting A Creative Renaissance, A Manifesto” where I discuss this creativity of ours in much more depth, and where I clearly show, how every single Human Being is creative. How creativity is the force that has shaped entire civilizations, because everything around you, from the clothes on your body, from the laptop or phone that you’re listening this podcast on, to our houses, our educational systems, it was all created. It was born in the realm of imagination and ideas and made tangibly real by people who are no different than you. The only difference is that they saw themselves as creators and creatrixes, that’s it.
Now, let me once again re-state one of the aims of the Creative Renaissance:
The Creative Renaissance is here to completely redefine creativity, and shift this cultural paradigm from viewing it as a privileged domain of only a chosen few, or worse as a luxury, to recognizing creativity as a way of life — as the language of the Soul and the language of the Universe that speaks through each Soul’s unique perspective, gifts and vision.
The first step in creating a Creative Renaissance, apart from walking your own authentic path and knowing your calling, is to see yourself as creative.
We are standing at the dawn of an unprecedented Creative Renaissance in our world, where visionaries like you and me are not just dreaming of a new earth — we are actively weaving its very foundations into existence, whether we are consciously aware of this or not.
This is why our creativity, and I mean each and every single of our creativity, matters, now more than ever.
There is a new world that is trying to be born through us, a new consciousness that is seeking to be made manifest, but this can only occur through us, and specifically through creators and creatrixes who are actively taking these ideas and manifesting them into tangible reality, and over time this is what re-shapes a new world, a new earth. We are the architects of this new earth, it’s us, we are its prophets, its midwives, and it can only happen through us.
Through our creative acts, whether grand or subtle, we are creating the fabric of tomorrow's reality. This new earth doesn't just need us, it is us — and it gradually emerges through us, every time we honor our authentic path, and honor our Soul’s deepest longing and desires.
When we speak of creativity, we need expand our understanding of it beyond the conventional realms of art. True creativity is simply the power to create something.
It’s the conscious shaping of our existence — and it's present everywhere, in how we dress, speak, think, and most importantly, in how we live. Every choice we make is an act of creation, every decision a brushstroke on the canvas of our lives. And as such I think we also need to expand our definition of what art is, because our very lives can be art themselves.
So, when we embrace our role as creators, and more specifically as conscious creators, we step into our full power as human beings. Because this is not about creating for the sake of creating, but about creating a life that reflects the deepest truth of who we are.
Because the truth of who we are is disruptive.
Your authentic expression is supposed to be radical, it’s supposed to be a slap in the face of the conventional, a middle finger to all of the made up rules and systems that would try to mold you and shape you into their version of acceptable. And if your presence doesn't shake the foundations of what others in this current status quo have deemed to be "acceptable," then you have diluted your essence.
We are so powerful and we are deliberately made to feel powerless, and helpless, because people who feel powerless don’t change anything, they don’t feel emboldened to actually go out there and make a difference and change things, create movements, create revolutions, create things that disrupt the status quo.
People who don’t see themselves as creative don’t have that kind of audacity that is needed to be a true change maker and revolutionary.
Revolutions don’t always look big, most often than not, they’re quiet, and they happen in those quiet moments when you choose authenticity over conformity, when you dare to color outside the lines of convention.
I truly believe that our current world as we know it, was very intentionally created, and I say intentionally created, to suppress our creativity and the spark of our Divinity. Because it frightens those few who unfortunately so easily control and rule the masses.
And no where is this more obvious to me than in our educational systems or our 9 to 5 jobs and this wage slavery Humanity is under as I said before, but what is most devastating is how most have been conditioned to accept this reality, to believe it's normal to pay simply for the right to exist on our own planet. It’s not okay, and it shouldn’t be normal. There’s a better way, and I don’t know what that way is yet, but I’m telling you there is a better, this is not the pinnacle of human potential, this is not the best we can do as human beings. It’s not.
We are meant for something so much greater than just survival.
And this is why the creative renaissance is here to help empower people to claim this identity of being a creative, because a creative soul, awakened, is a revolution in motion, capable of reimagining and reshaping entire worlds. And because it is so important what we define ourselves as creative. I know some individuals say that to define anything let alone ourselves is limiting, and there is a lot of truth in that, but what’s also true, is that in the act of defining something or someone it can help us to illuminate new possibilities, as well as a more authentic path moving forward.
Both are true here, it’s not either or.
Because whatever we define ourselves as will define our ceiling, and the beauty of creativity and defining ourselves as creatives is that creativity has no ceiling — it’s all about possibilities, and possibilities are limitless, infinite. The only limit is the vastness of our imagination.
True change demands more than goals — it requires vision. A vision so vivid, so compelling that it ignites your creative force into action.
You cannot change anything unless you actually have a vision for something different, and more than that, unless you actually are conscious of your creative power to bring such visions into existence. It’s just not going to happen any other way. Everyone talks about changing the world, and so do I, but how do we think that’s going to happen ? It happens through our creativity, through our imaginations.
I know a lot of people, especially people in the spiritual world talk about how we don’t need to change the world, we need to change ourselves, and that is very true, but we also need to change the world. Both are true.
We’re not here to be spectators, to stand by and let life happen to us. If that were the case we would have remained in the etheric realms and we wouldn’t have incarnated here on Earth to begin with.
Life was not made to happen to you, you were made to happen to it. You were created to shape it, and reshape and re-mold it again, and again until it reflects the unbounded freedom and Divinity of your Soul. That’s the truth.
Having experienced depression and meaninglessness in my life, I know the power of creativity, and how our creativity helps us be engaged with life, rather than be completely disengaged with it, which is a very hopeless and disempowering way to live. Actually it’s not even a life, it’s an existence.
But creativity makes of our existence a life. And one worth living at that. It helps us engage with the world around us in ways that are deeply and personally meaningful to us, because we realize we have power. We have the power to affect things, shape things, mold things — we can play with this thing that we call life, and experience joy and meaning as we do so.
As we near the end of this episode, my question for you is, what is your vision for a new world ? At the beginning of the episode I said I would discuss how to expand our creativity and unleash its transformative power in the world, so I ask you again:
What is your vision for a new world, a better world ? What world do you dream of living in ?
And I want you to get specific here, don’t just say, a world of love and light, that’s wonderful, but it’s vague, so what does that concretely look like ? What would human beings, in a world filled with love and light, need to be doing, how would they need to be living ? Get specific here.
We need to get into the habit of using our creativity to create meaningful things, things that enhance the quality of our lives and helps us have life more abundant, I truly believe that’s one of the purpose of our creativity.
And this vision of yours doesn’t have to be the all defining final version, it can grow and change, but at least getting started if you haven’t already. Start to get clear on what your vision of a better world would be, what changes you most want to see. And then start exercising your creativity to create this change, one small baby step at a time. And over time these smalls steps, create really big changes, changes you might not have ever anticipated could happen.
The second thing I’ll say for how to expand your creativity is to make time for it.
If you look at Artists throughout history, especially the Artists who have truly changed things, these have almost always been the ones who were financially comfortable and secure at some point their lives. The ones who didn’t have to worry about how they’re gonna pay their bills, or how they were going to find their next meal, that was all taken care of for them, either by patrons of the arts, family members, or other individuals who financially took care of them so that they could focus exclusively on their art. And this is such a gift.
To have the freedom to create without the burden of survival removes so much pressure from yourself.
The greatest gift you can give any artist, any person who is seeking to expand their creativity, is the gift of time, the gift of space. Because to nurture creativity, one must first free the mind from the chains of daily necessity and responsibilities. If you’re constantly under pressure, pressure to pay the bills, pressure to meet that deadline in your dead end job that you hate, and you’re always on the go, always fulfilling responsibilities, you don’t have time to breathe, to play, to just be and explore and experiment and follow your curiosity.
If you don’t create that time and space for yourself, your creativity becomes stifled, and remains unactivated really, to a certain degree.
So I want you to get creative here, and see how you can create more time and space for yourself to just wander, and follow your curiosity where you don’t have to worry about your normal responsibilities. Just do what you can with what you have. And once you have created that time for yourself, however long it is, whether it’s an hour, two hours, or more, pay attention to the world around you, to your inner world, pay attention to what intrigues you, inspires you. Be open and receptive, let your curiosity be your compass, and you will eventually receive ideas that inspire you enough to want to create something.
And the more you consciously use your creativity, the more creative and inspired you’ll become, the more ideas you’ll attract to you, and these ideas might seem small to you, but they could be ideas that genuinely transform the lives of other people in ways you could never know.
Your only task as a creative is to create those things that you feel deeply called to create, those things that you are so passionate about, that call to you and will not leave you alone until you bring them into form. That’s it. Your job isn’t to judge the worthiness of what wants to be created through you, let others do that, you task is to answer the call.
That’s it.
Create what you must create, what your soul demands you birth into this world.
And through you answering this innate calling and desire, the same way bees honor their innate desire for pollen, you will bit by bit birth a new world.
By using our creativity to shape our deepest truth into being, which is what the Creative Renaissance is about, we are pioneering a new chapter not only in our own life history but in our world’s history – one where each Soul's unique expression shines at full wattage, illuminating new possibilities and new pathways forward.
This means, we are not just be watching history unfold, we are creating it, one brave and authentic act at time.
So say it loud and say it proud with me
“I am a creative person.”
Because you’re goddamn right you are, and never forget it.
